Toronto Underground Market

The Toronto Underground Market (TUM) is a social food market for the community to sample the food of Toronto home cooks & budding entrepreneurs. TUM is a venue to showcase food products.

The vendors are not all chefs and this is not a farmers market. There is a wealth of delicious professional quality food being made in Toronto and the TUM provides an opportunity for it be shared....finally!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Street Food Block Party.
I am so proud of all the vendors who cooked tirelessly, the volunteers who helped make the event possible, the bands who performed & of course, all of the beer, tequila & wine vendors!
I do want to highlight a very special THANK YOU to the incredible, fearless & talented Toronto Underground Market team that time & time again bring these events to life. This group of Torontonians have become like family to me but most important, they have changed the food events industry!
Thank you all for supporting street food!!

TUM vendors are moving up in the world!

We are very excited to announce some exciting updates & changes happening with TUM vendors.

Tita Flips, who offers Filipino street food, has opened Kanto at Live Local Marketplace in front of Scadding Court.
Fidel Gastro, who makes his famous extremo sandwiches, has invested in the Butcher’s Son to have access to his own commercial kitchen.
La Carnita, who has built a cult-like following with their tacos will not be at TUM this weekend because they are busy working on opening a restaurant!

Here is a message from Andrew Richmond, chef of La Carnita:
“Last year when we first participated in the Toronto Underground Market, we didn’t know what to expect. Thanks to the success of TUM, we got a crash course in high volume food prep & service. In addition to learning a ton we were able to test recipes and validate our unique concept & menu.

We have been a vendor at all of the TUM events & without a doubt TUM has been an integral part in the success of La Carnita. We are now proud to say that we are going to take the next step in our journey and find a permanent home for La Carnita where we can apply the skills we have learned at TUM all day long.

Thank you to everyone who has supported (waited for) La Carnita at TUM!”

In La Carnita’s spot, Comida del Pueblo will be serving up their delicious Latin-inspired street food.

Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend!

Introducing the Toronto Street Food Project: A Social Media Campaign for Street Food.
The TSFP is a campaign to advocate for bringing delicious and diverse street food to the people of Toronto and supporting all independent entrepreneurs that want to sell it.
The TSFP is a social media-based campaign, the first of it’s kind in Toronto, enabling people to quickly and easily take action by sending letters &/or tweeting directly to their City Councillor.
Over a month ago Suresh Doss (Founder of Food Truck Eats) & I, announced the Street Food Block Party. This event was made to celebrate street food but also create awareness for the TSFP campaign. We didn’t mention this when we announced the Street Food Block Party because the website was not ready.

Interview in SNAP magazine on page 55

I am excited about this interview because it features Andrew & I. I also love it because we were both very honest. Since we both became entrepreneurs, it’s been a wild ride. I love TUM but it has come with lots of sacrifice & challenge. We both feel there are not enough hours in the day & we miss our kids! Having said that, we wouldn’t have life any other way.

Tickets are on sale today

The website will be updated with a ticket link by noon. We apologize for all of the confusion.

Also, this month we are changing the ticket format & introducing scanners. This means all guests must bring a print copy of their ticket. We hope that this speeds up the process & makes TUM more enjoyable.

Thank you & hope to see you all in April!
